🌸 In Loving Memory of Talia Joy

On the 26th of June 2014, our world changed forever. I was 39 weeks and 4 days pregnant when we believed I was in labour. But instead of hearing the first cries of our baby girl, we were told the unimaginable — that her heart was no longer beating.

Talia Joy was born still, yet so loved, so longed for, and forever remembered. Her pregnancy was filled with ups and downs, but nothing could have prepared us for losing her just before she was meant to take her first breath.

At the time, our son Ryder was just 2 years and 8 months old. He became our light in the darkness — the reason we got out of bed, the reason we kept going. To him, visiting his baby sister in the stars was as simple as building a rocket ship. In his innocence, he gave us hope.

Talia's absence reminds us how fragile life can be. She never got the chance to write her story, so as her family, we do our best to fill the pages of ours with love, purpose, and connection — always carrying her memory with us.

Without the support of our family, friends, and compassionate organisations who truly understood what it meant to lose a baby, I don’t know how we would have navigated those early days. That’s why this cause is so important to me. With more research into stillbirth, we can help reduce the number of families who experience this heartbreak. We can make a difference.

This August, I’m taking on the Red, Set, Go Challenge to raise $3,000 in Talia Joy’s name. I’ll be walking each week with the goal of running 3km by the end of the month — a small but powerful way to honour her and to help fund vital research and support services for grieving families.

If you feel moved to support me, please donate. Every dollar brings us closer to understanding and preventing stillbirth, and closer to supporting families through the pain of unimaginable loss.

Also walking with me is my beautiful best friend, who lost her son Leeroy James, born still — and we carry his name in this journey too, with so much love.

Thank you for helping us honour our babies, and for making the world just a little gentler for those who walk this path after us.
