Second time round!❤️

Last year, our incredible family, friends and community helped us raise over $20,000 for Red Nose Australia. The support was overwhelming, and because of that, we’re doing it all again this August as Teddys Tribe.

For the entire month of August, I’ll be walking 3km every day in memory of my beautiful nephew, Teddy Charles Tlais, while raising money for Red Nose Australia.

My brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rebecca and Karim, fought harder than anyone should ever have to for their beautiful twin boys. After years of infertility, they were finally expecting identical twins, only to be faced with challenge after challenge throughout the pregnancy. Despite multiple surgeries, months of bed rest and unimaginable uncertainty, Teddy sadly passed away at just 23½ weeks gestation.

In an incredible act of love and strength, Rebecca carried both Teddy and Austin for another three months before giving birth to them together at 36½ weeks. Meeting Teddy and saying goodbye to him on the very same day is something I’ll carry with me forever.

Not a day goes by that I don’t think about him.

Every time I watch Austin and my son Harry laugh, play and get up to mischief together, I’m reminded there should be one more little boy beside them. They should have been the three amigos, three cousins growing up side by side, getting into trouble together, celebrating birthdays together and making lifelong memories. Teddy’s absence is felt every single day, and there will always be a space at family gatherings where he should have been.

Although his life was far too short, Teddy will always be my nephew. He is deeply loved, forever missed, and will always be an important part of our family. His life mattered, and his memory deserves to live on.
