In Honour of our Ollie
Pregnancy & Infant Loss occurs in 1 in 4 families each year. Every day in Australia...6 babies are stillborn, 3 babies die within the first 12 months of birth, a miscarriage occurs every 3.5 minutes.
My family fell into that statistic in 2020 when we lost our first child in a remote location of the Northern Territory. Our beautiful Ollie James Lee Anderson was born too soon on 6th September 2020, at no fault of his own. He took one big breath and passed away in my arms. No medical intervention was used to save him as we were told it was too late. Because of his big breath, we were told that he falls into the category of 'neo-natal loss'. Something no parent should learn like this. We were also told that we fell into the under 1%, forever changing our naiveness of "that won't happen to me".
Ollie is now rested on our bedside, along with his photo, his little brother's and little sister's photo. He sleeps next to his mummy and daddy, forever being part of our family, to forever be remembered.
This cause is so close to our hearts as we were supported by Red Nose. We donate regularly in Ollie's name, to bereaved families who endure the devastating experience of losing a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal and infant loss.
