I’m fundraising to save little lives this August!
Every day, nine babies and children are lost suddenly or unexpectedly in Australia. Some families only get minutes or days with their precious little ones. Others never get to see their child take their first breath.
As some of you know, we lost our own daughter, Cooper Elle Cole. We were impacted by a uterine rupture, the risk of this occurring was 0.5-1%.
The overall risk of a baby’s death from uterine rupture during a planned VBAC is approximately 0.02–0.1%.
That statistics matter because someone has to be the 0.1%. Someone suffers the unimaginable consequences.
The hardest part of this loss for me has been the complete sense of loneliness and isolation. Knowing that not one single person I knew could truly relate to my grief and trauma. Thankfully I had the brief support of a Red Nose counsellor who had also lost a baby. However she was so overworked and had such limited availability, so the support was very short term and difficult to access.
I want to increase support to other parents that have experienced this life altering heartbreak. So I’ve decided raise funds to help save little lives and support families. I’m taking on the Red, Set, Go Challenge- Walking or running 3k a day for the month of August.
