My challenge is in memory of Lucas
I’m fundraising in memory of my baby
6 babies are stillborn each day in Australia.
On Saturday 17th January 2026 our baby Lucas was one of the 6 born sleeping that day.
We were in the 3rd trimester and on the home stretch of a pregnancy that was so easy. I was loving every minute of being pregnant and we had just finished the nursery, counting down the weeks until he was here. Then we were told he no longer had a heartbeat and our lives changed forever. There was no reason for what happened. He was completely and utterly perfect. Just “one of those things that happens” the doctors said.
Red Nose introduced me to a bereavement support worker. I also signed up for the Red Nose text message service where I receive regular messages about Lucas and useful guidance on how to navigate this new version of my life. Red Nose also provides 24/7 counselling to those who need it, a variety of support groups to help families cope with loss, and conducts vital research into how to save little lives.
For the month of August I will be taking part in the Ready, Set, Go challenge to help raise money for a charity that helps families like mine in their darkest moments. I will be completing 3km a day (93km in total) for them, and in memory of Lucas. I will be thinking about him every step of the way, and dreaming about him for the rest of my life.
This is for the boy who made me a Mum, my son, my beautiful baby.
