This August, I’m walking 3km every day in memory of our beautiful daughter Lainey — and in honour of the 3,000 babies and young children who die suddenly and unexpectedly in Australia each year.
Lainey was born with a severe encephalocele. From the moment we met her, we made the most loving choice we could — to give her comfort, peace, and all the love in the world. We held her tightly and soaked in every precious moment, knowing we wouldn’t get forever.
Grief like this is unimaginable, yet so many families walk this same heartbreaking path. That’s why I’ve joined the Red, Set, Go Challenge for Red Nose Day — to raise funds for research, counselling, and support that helps save lives and hold families through their darkest days.
We walk for Lainey. For love. For hope. For the families who never got to bring their baby home.
