Hi everyone,
As Police Officers and Detectives, we are educated about –
and in some cases attend – the death of a child affected by SIDS (sudden infant
death syndrome), SUDI (sudden unexpected death in infants) or SUDC (Sudden
unexpected death in childhood).
These incidents have a profound impact on families, friends and the wider community in various ways. Attending the unexpected death of a child as a police officer and in some cases needing to ask distraught families pointed questions is difficult in any situation; however, we never expect it to happen to one of our own, as it did in mid December 2023.
After seeing and hearing about the fantastic services Red Nose provided to our colleague and his family in the aftermath of their loss, I wanted to give back to Red Nose; an agency that provides unwavering support to anyone who has suffered the loss of a child.
For our colleagues who have lost a child and in loving memory of Hamish who tragically passed at 16 months.
We have created this fundraising page as part of Red Nose Day, and we would love to have your support this year!
We believe in the incredible work that Red Nose does to fund research, support families, and help save little lives. Funds raised on my page could help discover the next breakthrough in the fight against the sudden or unexpected loss of a baby or child.
Every dollar raised also helps keep Red Nose support services free and open 24/7 for grieving parents and families.
Any amount, big or small can have such a profound effect on the lives of thousands of Australian families.
No family should ever have to experience the heartbreak of losing their precious little ones, but we want to make sure there is always support and care available for those that do.
