I’m fundraising to save little lives this August!

A few years ago, this didn’t mean as much to me as it does now. In my eyes, it used to be a dress up day for the awareness of SIDS. But the Red Nose Foundation is SO MUCH more than that! 

Each year 3,000 babies and young children die suddenly and unexpectedly in Australia. That is 3000 families whose lives will never be the same again. To me, that’s an INSANE number of babies who don’t make it. And if a family has lost a baby or child, red nose helps provide the support they need - like 24/7 phone support, specialist bereavement counselling, and peer support groups.

Red Nose has helped provide my own family with a lot of support over the last 17 weeks and they will continue to support us for as long as necessary. All services they provide us are free and the only way that is possible it through their many donations. 

In saying that, I have started a donations page. This foundation has a special place in my heart and I have seen where their donations go. 

Whether it’s $5 or $50 I know that every dollar counts, and if you can spare something; you are keeping Bereavement Support workers in their important roles, you are helping fund research into why we loose our babies, and you are helping all of those who have suffered a tremendous loss.

I cannot believe that within 8 hours of posting my fundraising page to my Facebook, my community and village have tripled my goal for donations! 
There is still so much time left in the month to donate and I haven’t even host my disco yet!

Dear Red Nose Foundation, Thank you. For every quiet moment you have sat beside a grieving parent, for every phone call made in the middle of the night, for every tear you have allowed to fall without rushing it away. When we lost Elowyn, our sweet Angel in the sky, Rem’s precious baby girl, so close to when she was due to meet the world, we stepped into a silence no one prepares you for. A silence so loud it ached in our bones. In that silence, you were there. You wrapped Rem in gentle care. You gave space for love and grief to exist in the same breath. You honoured Elowyn’s name as if she were your own. Your work is not only support, it is love in action. It is the steady hand that says you do not have to walk through this alone.
