My Why

This year I  am participating in the Red Nose - Red, Set, Go! Challenge walking 3km every day and fundraising this August to support parents and families that have experienced the unimaginable heart break of losing a much loved baby or child.

This cause is very close to my heart as in 2024 , my husband and I lost our baby girl Laila due to a late pregnancy loss.
Red Nose provided such wonderful support through their Hospital to Home program and 24/7 support that helped me navigate through the most difficult time of my life.

By donating you will help Red Nose provide vital support to any families affected by a devastating loss through their 24/7 Support Line, Hospital to Home program and counselling services.

Thank you for standing with me and supporting a cause so close to my heart. ❤️

My Impact

I've helped provide 12 professional counselling sessions to families devastated by the loss of a treasured baby or child.

Last Walk of the Challenge

Monday 31st Aug

Day 31

Monday 31st Aug
Woohoo! I did it!!!! 🥳
I almost didn’t as my ankle gave way and fell earlier this morning but managed not to hurt it to much… Thankfully as I didn’t want to miss the very last day!

Today was just my normal route up to dam and back. And just like that red, set, go is done and dusted. So proud of myself and thankful for those around me who gave me encouragement and support. Some days were hard but still did it.

Dreamworld Fun Run

Sunday 30th Aug

Day 30

Sunday 30th Aug
Today was the Dreamworld Fun Run!!!
Amy and I dressed as Super Koalas. And Allenby the Koala loved this.
The start of the run was a little boring but when returned to Dreamworld section that’s when the fun started.  We had foam, bubbles, and coloured powder thrown at us.
It finished at Whitewater world and we got a very cool medal and a towel.

ONE MORE DAY TO GO!!!

Day 29

Sunday 30th Aug
Today I headed down to Gold Coast in preparation for the Dreamworld fun run.
My friend Amy jumped in the car when I got to the hotel and we headed for Burleigh Heads racing to get there before it got dark and what a hidden treasure with beautiful ocean views on one side and trees on the other.  Definitely one of my favourite walks.

Day 27 &28

Friday 28th Aug
Well day 27 saw another walk up to the dam and the mornings are getting less cold which is nice.
Day 28 I decided to give the legs a break from the hill! And went on my other route.
I leant about a couple of new species of flowers one  an introduced species which is a pest but has a cool name. The Mickey Mouse plant and a native called monkey rope.

Only 3 days to go!!!

I was also so grateful  for my family, friends and community for all their support and donations. As I’m excited to share that o have reached my  target.
My heart is full! Thank you everyone.

Day 24,25 & 26

Wednesday 26th Aug
Time has gotten away from me and have forgotten to update blog… but nothing really exciting or interesting to share as just being doing my walk up to the dam and back each day. As wanted some fresh air to start the day this week rather than the treadmill.

Day 23

Sunday 23rd Aug
Today I went  to Bunyaville Conversation Park where I went for  Sunday morning walk and clocked up my 3km for the day.
I saw some more beautiful native flowers and even though couldn’t get any photos saw rainbow lorikeets and cockatoos.

I also am proud as I hit the 93km goal today!!! 🥳

Day 22

Sunday 23rd Aug
When I woke up the weather was looking a bit yucky! So changed my plans of a hike to a walk around the block.
I managed to avoid getting wet and achieved my 3km. Hoping for better weather tomorrow and to go further afield.

Day 21

Friday 21st Aug
It was a hard day today, was tired and just wanted to sit on couch and not move but I got up and hit that pavement and got my 3km done for today.

Day 20

Thursday 20th Aug
Fresh air + Sunshine = happy
And today I thought why not go for a walk at the waterfront after work and that’s exactly what I did.
I enjoyed the fresh sea breeze and warm sunshine, watching the water and listening to it crash into the rocks.
Best part was watching a sea bird diving for its dinner.

Day 19

Wednesday 19th Aug
I got home a little later than normal today, and decided that it was a treadmill day… not a fan of treadmill days but at least getting through the audio book.

Day 18

Wednesday 19th Aug
Today was just an another walk up to the dam as it turned into a beautiful afternoon and had a nice little breeze.

Day 17!

Wednesday 19th Aug
Today went for a early morning walk at the Tinchi Tamba Wetlands

I haven’t been there since I was in probably primary  school and it was well worth the visit.
It was a peaceful walk that was flat which my legs especially my calf muscles were very thankful for.

It was lovely walk and was able to spot a couple of kookaburras, spotty butterflies, my favourite some fungi, a pelican and some other birds not sure what they were.
But most amazing thing was the mob of kangaroos who looked like they had been training at the gym, they were buff!!!

It was a nice morning out and just finished in time before the rain came along.

Day 16

Sunday 16th Aug
Today was a walk up to the dam, it was a beautiful day… it was supposed to rain and expecting a treadmill walk but instead it was warm with slight breeze and sunny with some clouds.

Day 15

Saturday 15th Aug
Today marks the half way point of the challenge and I went for a hike which is my favourite thing to do!
It was an unexpected hard one. Lots of steep hills. But did it and felt good once finished.
I don’t spot any animals, flowers etc. but did see some cool gum nuts and a feather which reminds me of Jellybean.

Day 13 & 14

Saturday 15th Aug
It’s a cheeky double day post as I only did the treadmill.
Getting into my audiobook now which makes things a bit easier.

Day 12.

Saturday 15th Aug
Today was a massive walk… which happened   by accidentally taking a wrong turn. Oops!!!
Though long it was cool, views  of  the Glasshouse mountains, stepping stones over little creek crossing and lots of native flowers to spot. I also spotted my first ever snake .

Day 11.

Wednesday 12th Aug
Another treadmill day… it was really hard today as was really tired and didn’t want to do it. But as Nike said just do it. And that I did.

Day 10.

Monday 10th Aug
Today was another indoor walk on treadmill, so nothing exciting today.

Day 9.

Monday 10th Aug
Best Walk So Far!!! Today went to the Petrie Mill Walking Track.
It was a lovely walk around the lake but the best part was the koala I spotted in the tree.

Day 8.

Monday 10th Aug
My husband Ben joined me today for my local walk.

Day 7.

Monday 10th Aug
Week 1. Done and dusted… I got an early mark at work so made the most of it by stopping off at Pine Rivers Park on my way home. It was a beautiful afternoon and did some bird spotting including ducks,  magpies, Australasian Swamp hen and  the most magical of all a black swan. Which is only swan that is black in the whole world.

Day 6.

Thursday 6th Aug
Today was just a boring walk on the treadmill… I was really tired and really didn’t feel like it but I did it!!! The silver lining was watching the beautiful sunset and getting more interested in the audio book.

Day 5.

Thursday 6th Aug
A afternoon walk today, was an ordinary walk until I heard some rustling on the long grass. I couldn’t see what it was and then to my surprise it was a random horse having an afternoon snack.
Then I came across some pink galahs having a feast.
It was a beautiful afternoon for a walk.

Day 4.

Tuesday 4th Aug
Treadmill Day and it’s a lot harder than walking outside. But did it!!! Started a new audio book to help pass the time, not sure about it but will give it a go.

Day 3.

Monday 3rd Aug
Today was a beautiful day so I picked Mum up and we went for a bush walk. It wasn’t long before the rain clouds started building but managed to avoid the rain. And when took hiking shoes off discovered have a blister onto of a healing blister 😳 didn’t even know that could happen.
But doesn’t matter as I love getting out into nature  it’s my happy place and the feeling of endorphins when finished a walk helps.

Day 2.

Monday 3rd Aug
The fresh crisp air of a Sunday morning was perfect start to the day.
Found some beautiful nature photos along the way and listened to my favourite bird call… the whip bird.
Day two done and dusted!!!

Day 1.

Saturday 1st Aug
Red, Set, Go!!!
Started off strong with new kicks and got home just before the rain started.
Went for a walk in the local neighbourhood and enjoyed some fresh air.
