Why I’m Taking Part in Red Nose Red Set Go
This August, I’ll be walking or running 3 kilometres every day as part of the Red Nose Red Set Go challenge, raising funds for Red Nose Australia and supporting families affected by miscarriage, stillbirth, and infant loss.
For me, this challenge is deeply personal.
Behind every kilometre are three babies I never got to meet.
My first loss was a missed miscarriage. There were no warning signs, no symptoms, and no indication that anything was wrong. The shock of discovering that my baby had stopped growing while I still felt pregnant is something I’ll never forget.
My second loss was an early miscarriage. Although it happened sooner in pregnancy, the heartbreak was no less significant. Loss doesn’t depend on how many weeks pregnant you are — every baby is loved, wanted, and mourned.
My third miscarriage brought both heartbreak and, eventually, some answers. Testing of the pregnancy tissue revealed chromosomal abnormalities, including Turner’s syndrome. While no result could ever lessen the grief, having an explanation helped me understand that there was nothing I could have done differently.
I know how fortunate I am to have received some answers. Many families never do. They are left carrying not only the pain of loss but also unanswered questions that may stay with them forever.
That is one of the reasons why organisations like Red Nose Australia are so important. They provide vital support, research, education, and resources for families navigating the unimaginable. They help ensure that grieving parents don’t have to walk their journey alone.
This August, every step I take will be in memory of my three babies. Some days I’ll walk. Some days I’ll run. Some days it may be difficult. But each kilometre will be a reminder that their lives mattered, they are loved, and they will never be forgotten.
By supporting my Red Set Go challenge, you’re helping Red Nose continue its incredible work supporting families through pregnancy loss, stillbirth, and the loss of a baby or child.
Thank you for helping me honour my babies and for supporting a cause that means so much to so many families.
For my three babies. Always remembered. Always loved. ❤️
