My challenge is in honour of Willow Charlize
Fundraising for prevention, and compassionate care after loss.
Every day, nine babies and children are lost suddenly or unexpectedly in Australia. 1 in 4 face pregnancy loss. 6 babies are stillborn everyday, some are preventable. 2 out of every 1000 babies die within the first 28 days of life. Some families only get minutes or days with their precious little ones. Others never get to see their child take their first breath.
In honour of Willow, I want to help prevent preventable loss, and ensure parents facing this unimaginable heartbreak are supported – that’s why I’m taking on the Red, Set, Go Challenge this August!
Donate to my fundraiser and help fund vital research that will save little lives – and provide free counselling support to families that have experienced the devastation of losing a precious baby or child.
I hope you’ll support me with a kind donation today.

Why I’m raising money for Red Nose
Monday 13th JulLike most people, I knew of SIDS and Kids through school. Fun fund raising days wearing red and funny clown noses.
When we got Willows diagnosis, we were told to look up Red Nose. I later learnt they used to be SIDS and kids.
After the news sank in, I tried to reach the FMU but it was the weekend. So I called Red Nose.
I choked through my words and sobs, with the knowledge our baby might die. A diagnosis, and a possible choiceless choice.
From that first call to a bereaved parent peer supported, Red Nose stayed with me. They held space for free, without limits.
Between 2021 and 2023 I had:
- 20 face-to-face and zoom counselling sessions
- Several online group sessions
- 7 Hospital to Home sessions
- 4 Pregnancy after loss sessions
- Attended and volunteered at Walk to remember events
Just before Isaac was due to be born, I decided it was time to share my story and give back.
I volunteered for a couple years and continue to advocate and raise money where I can.
Running was part of my healing through grief. Something that is healing to many. We run to heal, and we run to raise hope.
So I’m running 3km every day in August. A little bit of discomfort to raise $3000 for the 3000 families impacted by loss each year.
Nothing is more uncomfortable than grief. Hopefully by sharing, I can help make the conversation more comfortable.
Help me, help Red Nose continue to provide comfort to others with the same compassion they offered me, and more.
Forever grateful to Red Nose, Krystal, Janne, Cat, Sunny, Bonnie, and the peer supporter who answered my first call.
