I’m fundraising to save little lives this August!

Every day, nine babies and children are lost suddenly or unexpectedly in Australia.

Some families only get minutes or days with their precious little ones. Others never get to see their child take their first breath.

Everyone knows someone who has been affected by the loss of a child. For me this is close to home. We never got to meet our beautiful nephew Angel Garlick but know he would have been so loved by our crazy family. It will also be Angels 2nd heavenly birthday in August so ill be doing this for him, my brother and sister in law.

I want to support parents that have experienced this unimaginable heartbreak, and raise funds to help save little lives – that’s why I’m taking on the Red, Set, Go Challenge this August!

Donate to my fundraiser now and you’ll help fund vital research that will save little lives – and provide counselling and support to families that have experienced the devastation of losing a precious baby or child.

I hope you’ll support me with a kind donation today, and help make the world a bright place for the little lives and their families that need it most.

My Updates

Day 27 - getting closer to the end

Wednesday 27th Aug
Day 27 - 27th August

I am so incredibly proud of myself at this point. I never in my wildest dreams thought I would be able to run 3km a day for 27 days straight. Some of them have been longer runs too.

Goes to show was passion and dedication can do.

Today was beautiful, went out into the trails too and threw myself into nature.

Day 26 - can you believe it!

Tuesday 26th Aug
Day 26 - 26th August
We are officially in the home stretch now with 5 days to go and only 10k to reach my 100k goal. Although 3km a day for 31 days is only 93km i wanted to round up and hit that 100km mark.

This is the most amount of running i have EVER done at any one time especially consistently. At times it has been challenging but I know it is raising money for a really worthy cause.

Thank you to everyone who has donated so far. The families who need this support really thank you! I thank you! Your all amazing.

Day 25

Monday 25th Aug
Day 25 - 25th August

Were getting closer to the end now and I can certainly see myself keeping this running as a habbit.
I have almost ticked off my 100km in August. I have hit my fund-raising goal and spread awareness for these beautiful souls we have lost.
Very proud to be 6 days out from the finish.

Day 24

Monday 25th Aug
Day 24 - 24th August
Today i decided to take on a challenging run. What?! I dont know i was feeling a little insane.
For anyone who lives in the illawong area old ferry/ fowler road knows it is basically hills hills and more hills, running up them, running down them doesn't matter either way is tough!

Well thats what i took on today. A 5km run down to the water and back up. Beautiful day and lots of people out just none of them as crazy as me to run hills.

Day 23

Monday 25th Aug
Day 23 - 23rd August

The sun was out today! Did a 3km run at midday and my gosh I forgot how hot it can get in the sun when running. Haven't seen it for such a long time.  Was a good run fastest pace, fastest km, Pb all the wins today.

Day 21 & 22 - Baby Zachary

Friday 22nd Aug
Day 21 & 22 - August 22nd
Baby Zachary was the third baby in his family, loved ever so much by his big brother, sister and parents. Zachary was just a few hours old when they lost him. Born unexpectedly at 31 weeks. He is deeply missed by his family.

Today I got in a longer run to make up for both days. Yesterday was so horrible outside the rain was torrential and did not stop all day. This morning the sun came out a little and I thought I was safe until 1km prior to being home when I had to bolt home because the rain was coming thick and fast!

Day 20 - break in the rain

Friday 22nd Aug
Day 20 - 20th August

Yet again another miserable cold, wet morning. Not sure this rain is ever going to stop. I managed to get a quick 3km in amongst a break in the rain which was amazing, not quite sure how I managed that one without getting wet.

Day 19 - Cold & Wet

Friday 22nd Aug
Day 19 - 19th August

This week has been so wet and miserable. I knew I had to commit and dig deep today. As soon as I got home from the gym I changed my shoes and went straight out because if I didn't I wouldn't have. I would have used the rain as an excuse not to go.  It was actually so nice being out this morning, the rain had stopped a little the Kookaburras were out laughing and I actually just really enjoyed the morning.

Day 17 & 18 Baby Timothy

Monday 18th Aug
Day 17 & 18
August 17 & 18 combined to one big day of running.
Unfortunately I couldn't hit the pavement on Sunday 17th due to other commitments starting early and finishing late and driving big distances which meant I combined Monday morning run to make it a 6km run.

Today was for baby Timothy the twin brother of Mark and sons of Amy. Amy lost both boys at 35 weeks back in 1991 and I told Amy because they are both special they both deserve their own day of running dedicated to them. The boys would have been 34 years old this year.

Sending love to all the families and loved ones of little ones who are no longer with us. ✨️🤍🪽

Day 16 - Baby Mark

Saturday 16th Aug
Day 16
16th August
Baby Mark
A colleague reached out to me and told me that she had lost her twin boys at 35 weeks back in 1991 Mark & Timothy.
Her boys would have been my age.
This one hit home to not only loose one baby but to loose two together must have been absolutely heart breaking and im sure 34 years ago the support we have now wouldn't have been there for grieving mothers and families.

Both the boys deserve to be remembered so I will be dedicating one run per day to each of her sons. Today was for Mark. Did a 5km run of course stopping for the view and to take in the sunshine!

Day 15 - feeling it

Saturday 16th Aug
Today was one of those days i could have easily skipped but I didnt. After the gym I came home changed to my running shoes and off I went. Technology wasnt on my side which  made it a hard run for me, half way through my phone died which also meant I had no music, then about 3 minutes out from being home my watch died so it meant my run didnt record but thats okay I know I did the same route I have been doing so it was 3k.

The best part of the day was I got to go cuddle my new baby nephew who is Angels little brother Ray.

Day 14 - what a day

Thursday 14th Aug
Today it rained the entire day! I would usually do a long run across alfords point bridge to padstow on Thursdays but the rain had other plans. At 4:40pm the rain had settled and i thought id sneak in a quick 3k instead of my long run. It didnt rain at all for 20 mins and as soon as I finishes running the heavens opened and the sun shone through for golden hour. It was such a special feeling to just stand in sunlight after so much rain. My skin was glistening but it was just sweat. 😄 🤣

Thank you everyone for the donations and the messages.

Day 13 - Feeling proud

Wednesday 13th Aug
Day 13
August 13th

Yesterday I dedicated my 3km run to honouring baby Emily Jane and this morning I have worken up to messages full of love and support from her family who also have donated which is so appreciated. They have also shared my page and my posts and strangers who dont even know me have donated which honestly blew my mind.

We really are such a special bunch of humans when we come from a place of love and support.

Honestly thank you, for the families, for the babies for everyone going through or affected by infant loss I just say thank you. I am honoured to be able to run in memory of your babies and as much as I hate hearing the stories because my heart breaks, keep them coming because it keeps me accountable, your baby's memory and name alive and makes other families feel less alone.

We got this almost half way there!

Day 12 - Baby Emily-Jane

Tuesday 12th Aug
Day 12 12th August
Baby Emily-Jane was born sleeping on the 30 April 2023 at 39weeks. First child for my brother and his wife. Emily-Jane was going to be the first granddaughter for my parents and we were so happy that we were having this baby to bring some happiness to our lives since my dad had dementia.

Our happiness was taken away from us that day, there was no explanation as to why the  heartbeat has stopped. She was a healthy 3 and half kilo baby. We later found out that her heart valve closed before she was born.

I am happy to say that my brother and his wife are expecting again, baby due in February. We are all very happy however also very nervous.

My brother and his wife started a foundation called EmJay Hands to help parents like them to find support as they didn’t find much of this in Malta. -Jo

Jo is one of my colleagues and shared this story with me and it absolutely broken my heart. Im so pleased to hesr they are expecting again and everything is going well. I wish them all the best.

Today 3km was beautiful Emily-Jane 🤍✨️🪽

Day 11 - Baby G family

Monday 11th Aug
Day 11 11th August
Baby G your parents and 2 big sisters were over the moon to welcome you into their growing family. Unfortunately they lost you at 13 weeks.

These stories I keep hearing break my heart. I had no idea that I knew so many people that were affected by infant loss. We dont talk about this and its something we absolutely should so that people dont feel alone.

Today's run was a late one, I went after I had finished work today but got it in before it was complete darkness. Ran 3k in 19 min which I was pretty happy about. My silly watch even though it was timing, some how didnt record the distance so strava hasn't matched up. Whatever. Just more km ill do in the month.

Day 10 - baby Shane

Monday 11th Aug
Day 10 10th August
Baby Shane passed away at 4 weeks old from SIDS. Not a day goes by that his family dont miss him. Today's 3km is for baby Shane.

Today I snuck in a walk between the rain. It was absolutely freezing outside today! I still got it done. The old legs are really feeling tired and heavy.

Day 9 - baby D

Saturday 9th Aug
Baby D your grandparents adored you, they are also doing ready set go for Red Nose Day to raise funds in your honour.

Today's run was a bit slower, I picked up my buddy for the last 1km and Zukki ran with me. He likes to run so it was fast. My calf muscles are really starting to feel it and the rain was raining!

Day 8 - Baby H

Saturday 9th Aug
Day 8 8th August
Baby H your mum and Dad were so excited but life had other plans, at 24 weeks they welcomed you into the world but you were too tiny to stay and needed elsewhere. Your mum and Dad think of you every day.

Today was a tough day for me. My legs were feeling super heavy and they didnt want to go at all but I still made the choice to get out a 3km walk/jog at a very slow pace. I did this after I had finished a gym class which was also really tough. Doing it for a good cause. Remembering the little ones we lost.

Day 7 - Baby M

Thursday 7th Aug
Day 7 7th August
Baby M at only 8 weeks your mum knew something wasnt right and by 10 weeks you had passed. This one is for all the mummas who have miscarried their beautiful babies and never got the opportunity to meet them.

Today's run was really hard. My legs are feeling super heavy, my calf muscles are sore and I chose to run a very hilly route. Once I got into a rhythm I was fine it was just slower paced than I would have liked. Running is nothing compared to what mums go through when dealing with the loss of a baby. Honoured I can do this and dedicate days to remembering their babies.

Day 6 - Baby Alexander

Wednesday 6th Aug
Day 6 6th August
Dedicated to Baby Alexander and his family who is one of my beautiful clients. Hey lived such a short life of only 3 weeks and was taken from his family far too soon.
Alexander now has a sister who honours him with her middle name being Alex.

Today was a struggle, I did a cardio gym session and then went for my run straight after, it was definately a slower pace run today but still consistent with time/km. The sun was rising over the water and it was so beautiful and I am so grateful and honoured to be able to run for these families and babies and raise funds for Red Nose.

Day 5 - Baby R

Tuesday 5th Aug
Day 5 5th August
Baby R you had just celebrated your first birthday and passed suddenly while you were sleeping. You left behind a beautiful family who misses and adores you daily. They will never forget you.

It is such an hour to be able to run these km every day for these beautiful babies and their families. It breaks my heart hearing these stories and knowing that the heartache never goes away for the families, its sonething they carry with them forever.

Day 4 - Angel Garlick

Monday 4th Aug
Day 4 4th August
My darling nephew Angel. Today you would have been 2. With your brother or sister on the way and you watching over baby bean just know how loved you are. You were one of my reasons for doing this and raising money for Red Nose Day. You forever hold a special place in our hearts.

Today's run was good. I was feeling good and the first k my legs felt like they were flying! I did my fastest km at 5.35 and then maintained a 6.30 average after that.

Day 3 - Beautiful Elora

Sunday 3rd Aug
Day 3 3rd August
Beautiful Elora. You were baby no 3 and what a beautiful baby you were. Loved so deeply by your mum, dad big brother and sister. You have now safely guided you beautiful baby brother into this world to complete your family. Today's 3km is dedicated to Elora and her beautiful family.

Day 3 was the fastest pace for me a PR which was exciting. The legs felt food not heavy which is what I expected after 3 days of running. Day 3 3k done.

Day 2 - Baby Stuart

Saturday 2nd Aug
Day 2 2nd August
Baby Stuart. Still born but never forgotten. Your mum and Dad are so lucky to have you watching over them. Today's 3km is dedicated to all the mums with beautiful babies like Stuart.

It has been torrential rain but the running must go on. Luckily as soon as I set off the rain held off for the whole run. Day 2 done.

Day 1 - Baby A

Friday 1st Aug
Day 1 1st August
The first 3km dedicated to Baby A. Your mum and Dad loved you so much and were very excited to have you in their life, you would have been 1 this year but life had other plans for you. Today's first 3km is for you because you were their first child.

3km today in 21.58 - slow paced run this morning after a gym session and a big run yesterday. I didnt plan that very well did I. However the first 3km are done! Let's go!

Preparing for Day 1

Thursday 31st Jul
Tomorrow the 1st August I will be starting a 31 day challenge where I will run 3km every day to raise funds for Red Nose day.

Since joining this and posting about it I have had numerous people reach out to me and share their story, which breaks my heart that they have experianced loss of a loved one.
Every day with the families permission I will be dedicating the run to the little soul we never got to share time with.
Some people never got to name their little one so they became Baby X, some got to name them but never take them home, some got to name them take them home but they never got to stay.
It is absolutely heartbreaking that families experience this in the shape of SIDS, stillbirths, SUDI, miscarriage among other things.

I am honored to run and raise funds for these families and future families and have their little ones names still remembered.
