I’m fundraising to save little lives this August!

For several years now I have raised funds for Red Nose Day in honour of my daughter Madeline who died unexpectedly shortly after her birth 4 years ago.

Every day, nine babies and children are lost suddenly or unexpectedly in Australia.

Some families only get minutes or days with their precious little ones. Others never get to see their child take their first breath.

I want to support parents that have experienced this unimaginable heartbreak, and raise funds to help save little lives – that’s why I’m taking on the Red, Set, Go Challenge this August!

Why I am running (walking) 3 km a day

A lot of you will know my story but for those that don’t hear it is.

In 2021 my daughter Madeline was born on Easter Sunday during a COVID lockdown in Brisbane. The pregnancy was normal with no issues expected and this remained the case through labour.

When Madeline was born and while she remains alive for some time, six hours after she was born she died despite the best efforts of all the doctors and nurses.

It turns out late during labour her umbilical cord became occluded cutting off blood and oxygen to her.

As you can imagine it was devastating for our family who still to this day despite being lucky enough to have another child still feel every day that she is missing.

This still happens far too regularly so I am raising money to help those families that have to go through a similar situation and in the hope that fewer families have to go through it in the future

I have tried so hard in my life to run, and I still do. However, I didn’t really enjoy it and my frame is certainly not built for it. Despite this I am committing to running (or walking) 3 km every day in August to raise funds for Red Nose and would appreciate any sponsorships.
