Help me honour someone special this Red Nose Day
Hi everyone,
Red Nose Day is coming up again on 9 August and I am raising funds again in honour of my daughter Madeline who died three years ago.
I've shared her story previously but essentially we had a problem free pregnancy but once she was born she was not responsive and she died six hours later.
The autopsy concluded that he umbilical cord was occluded somewhere late through labour which cut off her blood and oxygen and she was unable to survive.
While we were and continue to be devastated to have lost her we were lucky enough to have another daughter six weeks ago.
Birth after an event like this is a very odd thing because it brings back up all of the trauma of losing a child and makes you hyper aware of risks and problems with your new child.
You also get a lot of comments from people that know what happened that you have two daughters now - no I have three.
The Red Nose Foundation supports families when they lose a child and fund much needed research into early childhood death which is still way too common.
